Meet Andrew

Hampton

Andrew began his working life as an Actor / Musician performing on the West End stage and in Repertory Theatre around the UK. At the age of 28 he took a job teaching Clarinet and Saxophone at The King Alfred School in North London. In 1994 he became Head of Music and published his first volume of Jazz pieces for Saxophone with Faber Music. He gained a Master in Educational Leadership and Management before completing his National Professional Qualification for Headship. His first Headship was at Dagfa House School in Nottingham. He then went south to run Thorpe Hall School in Southend-on-Sea, Essex in 2007. Thorpe Hall won many awards under his leadership culminating in Runner Up in Senior School of the Year and winner of Community Outreach Programme in the TES Awards in 2021.

Andrew was Chair of the Independent Schools Association in 2014 -15 and a Director of the Independent Schools Inspectorate in 2018 -19. He launched Girls on Board in 2017 and published Working with Boys in 2021.
